The England striker is due to return to training, but Middlesbrough and Everton head the queue of clubs interested in taking him if United sell. Meanwhile, Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry is quoted in The Daily Telegraph calling for temporary moves to be banned in the Premiership. His comments coincide with United's reported deal with West Ham to land Carlos Tevez on an initial two-year loan before having the option of securing the Argentinean permanently.
The same publication hint that Reds winger Kieran Richardson is a potential target for Manchester City. Former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson took over at Eastlands last week.
