Alan Smith wants talks with Sir Alex Ferguson this week before deciding whether to quit Manchester United.
The England striker is due to return to training, but Middlesbrough and Everton head the queue of clubs interested in taking him if United sell.
However, Smith will not leave Old Trafford until he is sure his first-team chances are remote – and he plans to discuss his future with Ferguson to find out the answers.
